Dylan’s medical expenses

Hi, thank you to any, and all of those who take a moment to read our families’ current crisis, and needs: My name is Samantha Morehouse, and I’m Dylan Flint’s older sister. We share the same birthday, and are exactly 5 years apart. He’s the best gift I’ve ever been given, and knowing this is what my baby brother struggles with day in, and day out, breaks my heart…
Dylan has been in renal failure, (kidney failure), for the past 2-3 years, due to his other diabetic related illnesses, and their unfortunate progressions within his organs. Which means, as well as having developed kidney failure, he has developed, and has been battling this new severe disease the best he possibly can called, “Gastroparesis”. It has been ravenous on his gastrointestinal tissues, his immune system has become more compromised then ever, as well as the immense muscle atrophy that has eaten through the healthy tissues Dylan has, or has left.
Dylan was 135-140 lbs in the fall of 2019, and dropped down to 75lbs the following year and a half, which lead to him going into cardiac arrest, and needing to be resuscitated in the spring of 2021. Due to the gastroparesis “flare ups” that wouldn’t let him hold anything down, as well as after numerous doctors visits, with specialist’s, we had no luck at finding any answers, so we were relieved to finally have somewhat of a diagnosis of gastroparesis. He’s now had a feeding tube installed for the past year, but that doesn’t seem to stop the vomiting, or help him gain much weight, because we haven’t seen any improvement weight wise, in nearly a year. The medicine’s not covered by insurance, especially his nausea medicine, same goes for the nutritionists, dietitians, food for his special diets, gas/hotels to be able to make it to see these out of state, more knowledgeable doctors, such as Mayo Clinic etc.. our savings have depleted from advocating for his health the best we can, though Dylan was stubborn at first to create a GoFundMe, when he saw the out pour of help, and support from our community, he started to realize he belongs, and many people care for him.
Fortunately Dylan was able to get an appointment for a week and a half of tests up in Mayo at the end of April. Hopefully we will be able to get more answers and Dylan can be a little less stressed with travel, his feedings for his tube, solid foods, medicine for nausea, hotel and his medical expenses that were going to accumulate while he’s there, being alleviated by these funds. I believe if we’re able to alleviate even a portion of those stressors, Dylan will bloom closer to hope, and less towards despair.
I’m asking from the depths of my soul to please help with what you can. A repost. Retweet. A supporting message to Dylan. Prayers. Loving energy. A dollar. Anything and everything is appreciated. If I could trade places, and take on his pain, and condition... I would in a heart beat. I know every single one of us in our family would, because he’s never done anything but be a good, fishing, hardworking type of person his whole life, and he’s only 23… no young man should feel this tragedy in the best years of his youth. I just can’t lose my brother. Especially if it’s because we couldn’t afford to get him the help/care he deserves.
Thank you for taking the time, and baring with me to read this.
