Help Sam Beat Cancer!
Donation protected
The beauty of a small, tight knit community is that everyone knows everyone. So, I’m sure many of you know my sister, Sam. What you probably don’t know, is that she’s been diagnosed with Endometrioid Ovarian Cancer.
She fell ill earlier this spring. After months of tests (and an unfortunate misdiagnosis), a CT scan finally revealed the culprit. A tumor.
Large abdominal mass measuring 25.0 x 15.0 x 32.0 cm. As described by the head of the OBGYN Dept; “Basketball sized.”
On November 7th, she had major surgery to remove the mass along with a full hysterectomy. And while she did well with that, she has to have a repeat of this surgery on December 12 to remove the lymph nodes. Thus, doubling her risk and recovery time.
Chemo and other therapy will be dependent on what they find in the next biopsy. (so please pray and send good vibes for them to come back clean!)
This came as a shock to our entire family. You see, my sister has been healthy and strong her whole life. She is the pillar of our family, the one you can rely on. She takes on every added responsibility with grace and grit.
When our mother became too sick to care for herself, Sam moved home to take care of her. When members of our family needed rent money, she provided it. When our stepfather needed someone to care for him after knee replacements, she was there.
The world is a better place with her in it.
She’s our magic person. She’s the person you talk to, knowing that she will not just listen, but understand. She travels. She tells incredible stories. She has heart and humor and humanity.
And we love her, so very, very much.
Please consider donating to help her through this incredibly rough time so our girl can focus on getting well without worry.
Proceeds will go towards fixing her truck (which she needs to travel back and forth to Iowa City for treatment), grocery money, gas money, medicine, and household bills. All of which she is trying to pay out of pocket while she waits for approval for other financial assistance.
Thank you all for the love and support, every bit of it helps!
