#ForJake’sSake

Hi, my name is Tonya Riffe and I’m fundraising for my great-nephew, Jake, to help with medical and travel expenses for his family.

Jake is eleven years old and attends Raceland Worthington Middle School. He is the son of Tyler and Jaclyn Riffe of Worthington and he has an older sister, Jill.

Jacob was diagnosed with a brain tumor on 2/28/24. Due to its location inside the brain stem, it is inoperable. He had a biopsy on March 1st at Cincinnati Children’s and we received his pathology reports. Unfortunately, it was not the news we had hoped for. He has been diagnosed with a ganglioglioma which appears low grade under the microscope but has a genetic mutation that could change the tumor into a more aggressive, faster growing, and treatment resistant tumor. Having this mutation elevates his tumor status from low grade to high grade. His oncology team says that this combination is extremely rare and they have not seen a case like Jacob’s at this hospital. Jake will go back to Cincinnati on March 25 to begin 6 weeks of radiation therapy.
