Help Charlie Receive Life Saving IVIG Treatments
Donation protected
Charlie was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM), two months ago. JDM is an autoimmune disease that attacks his white blood cells causing inflammation in Charlie's muscles. It causes interstitial lung disease and affects his capillary small blood vessels. This autoimmune disease causes Charlie's immunity to be compromised and more susceptible to picking up common illnesses. The treatment for Charlie to help him combat his antibody deficiency is IVIG Therapy. IVIG Therapy is prepared from a pool of immunoglobulins from the plasma of thousands of healthy donors. This replaces Charlie's white blood cells but the medication for transplant rejection lowers his immunity. According to insurance this is an experimental treatment and isn't covered. It will cost over $1,500 every 4 weeks for the next year in order for Charlie to receive these life saving treatments. The family needs to travel 2 hours one away to the Cleveland Clinic in order to receive these treatments. Any help is appreciated.
