Support Kristen on Her Road to Recovery from Breast Cancer
The first thing one notices about Kristen is how gentle she is—with everyone. I am not sure I could imagine an unkind thought form in her mind. She is ever-prepared to offer an abundance of hope and love to everyone around her. And typically for Kristen, her one-sentence response to the cancer that befell her and her family is, “The Lord must have a reason.” Simple, and filled with faith.
All of us in our St. Sava Orthodox Church community in Issaquah have witnessed for years Kristen’s unfailing dedication in helping to organize events, and perform duties in the kitchen and the hall. Despite her battle with cancer and the chemotherapy that weakens her, she continues to devote her angelic voice to our choir during every liturgy. She barely has the strength to stand during the services, and yet, she is there, offering whatever she can.
All of us who know Kristen describe her as a truly remarkable person. If you knew her, you would say the same. In fact, her whole family, all of the Walters—Kristen, Jed, Emma and Agnes—exude unbounded love with their whole beings.
I am writing to appeal to you for help. Your funds will go toward securing the best treatment for Kristen, resulting in the best outcome, and with the least possible additional hardship for this truly good family. Kristen and Jed do have medical insurance, but as we all know, insurance never suffices when it comes to cancer. Please give what you can to help cover the total cost of Kristen’s breast cancer therapy. I know the Walters would do the same for any of us.
