Justin’s Journey

Donation protected
Hello all, I am Sam, Amanda’s best friend. Amanda is the oldest sister of Justin Stockman. I wanted to make this page to help support Justin, his loving wife Shelby and two sweet babies Fenwick and Emmeline. Life is very unfair sometimes, so I want us to all come together to help take some of the stress off this sweet family, it will go to help pay for medical bills, traveling back and forth, food while they are on the road back and fourth to chemo treatments and help pay for day to day bills when Justin can’t be at work. Anything helps and we are all eternally grateful for the support! Below is the story told by his sweet wife Shelby. Please keep this family in your prayers!

Life has a way of throwing curveballs when you are least expecting it.

On Friday, January 13th, Justin went in for a CT scan for what we and his PCP thought was a swollen/inflamed thyroid. Within 30 minutes of that scan, our PCP had us rush to the oncology unit at LMH. What he saw on that scan was not a thyroid issue. After additional scans, blood work, and biopsies, we now know that Justin has Lymphoma. More testing is being done to determine which variant, but they have it narrowed down to four. We are devastated, shocked, scared beyond belief, and nervous for the many unknowns we face ahead. Most importantly though, we are hopeful. Lymphoma in general responds well to treatment. Justin is also incredibly healthy overall and his only symptom was the development of a lump on his throat (what we all thought was an inflamed thyroid), which may have been a blessing in disguise. As we find out more with his diagnosis, the better we will be able to plan and feel in control of the situation. For now, we will continue to wait for the answers we seek with the medical team working with us, and continue to pray that Justin’s health returns to normal.
Justin had his port installed last week and will start chemo very soon. Update as of today January 30, 2023 not the news we were hoping for. The oncologist felt confident in telling Justin he had B-Cell Lymphoma, but they got their final pathology results back this morning and he has the triple hit lymphoma. This is the most aggressive form of lymphoma. They will start him on an intense chemo regimen ASAP and then once they meet with Dr Hoffman in KC (KU Med) and he may offer him to be part of a clinical trial that’s in stage 2 of FDA approval.
