"Yesterday" Short Film
Donation protected
Hi there! My name is Ava Breslin and I am the director of “Yesterday,” a short film written by Lance Sorenson. Currently, I am a senior film student at DePaul University and am so excited to shoot this project before my time in school comes to an end.
While I’ve had the amazing opportunity to direct many projects I’ve written myself, directing someone else’s writing has been a challenge that I have sought out. As I expressed this eagerness to Lance during class one day, he offered for me to read a script he had just written… We started work on “Yesterday” shortly after.

“Yesterday” follows Emmett, a late twenties man who suffers from short-term memory loss; and isn’t able to remember the day before. Waking up in Alice’s bed, he uncovers details from the night they shared while spending a final day together before his memory loss catches up to them again.
What does it mean to be present with someone for only a day, knowing that tomorrow isn’t guaranteed? “Yesterday” explores the idea of presence, compassion, and the sacredness of human connections. The story resonates with people from all backgrounds who have experienced love, yet know that their love will end. It channels complex emotions that will be handled with grace and (hopefully) some laughter.
Films of all sizes require vast resources. I’d love your support in funding ours to reach our goal of $2,300. No donation is too small.
Funds raised will go toward the needs of the production: feeding cast and crew, locations, transportation, production design, and other miscellaneous expenses. It’s always been my wish for film sets to be welcoming environments where teams flourish, friendships are made, and expertise is shared. With your donation, we can achieve this for “Yesterday.”
