Hi my name is Travis and this is Nikki and this is our story...
February 12, 2024 my fiancée and I were beaten and left for dead by 4 assailants in our home.
My fiancée was beaten in the head opening a large gash on the backside causing severe pain and hospitalization for 12 staples to close her wound. She was released after surgery to her head.
My injuries were critical trauma earning me an extended stay at the hospital for ten days. 4 broken ribs (R9,10,11,12), broken back (L1-L3), collapsed lung, lacerated liver, and a broken finger on my right hand and bruising on my back from the attack. Surgeries were required to implant a chest tube to help me breath, and surgery on my right ring finger.
After being released from the hospital, returning home was no longer an option. For our safety and security, temporarily, we have been staying at an undisclosed location. Our belongings have been removed and placed into temporary storage. We are homeless at this point, but we are thankful to be here together, beaten but alive.
We are thankful, very, very thankful for all the help the police, fire and ems individuals gave us. We are extremely, extremely thankful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at John Hopkins Hospital for helping us during this difficult time. Amazing Hero's!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a long and painful road ahead of doctors visits, pain management and physical therapy to regain my independence that i have lost.
Because of my injuries I require 24hr care, which my fiancée has graciously volunteered to help. The doctors have said I will need weeks, if not, possibly months of agonizingly painful physical rehabilitation. My fiancée is unable to return to her soap and candle business, leaving her currently with no income. All of our funds have been exhausted during this time. No funds left, our temporary housing is in dire jeopardy. Our food and transportation budget for the month has been drained to pay for our temporary housing. Time will only exacerbate this danger without your help.
Having no funds recently has been stressful and challenging, I have missed my last two doctors appointments causing me extreme difficulties in refilling my pain medications. I have an appointment rescheduled for this week, will I make it, I don't know yet. If I want pain relief before then, I will have no choice but to return to the ER, just to refill my pain medications. (Last week it took twenty seven hours at the ER to get my meds refilled. Fun times.)
Since my disability accident in 2006, I know first hand how challenging the recovery road ahead will be, even with these recent events the only direction I can go is forward.
That accident left me with four dislocated disks; two in my neck(C2,C3) and two in my lower back(L1,L2) causing severe nerve damage and partial paralysis on my right side. It took months of tortuous physical rehabilitation and almost a full two years after the accident before I was able to walk again without the assistance of a cane.
Every step is so, so painful. But...
Today WE stand!
Any and every donation helps astronomically for our future, it really truly does help!
All donations collected will be used for our medical and housing expenses for my fiancée and me. And we will keep you updated on our progress, we know, we can't do this without your help!!!
Thank you, thank you and thank you again for your help!!!!
With all our love,
Travis & Nikki
