Yess Top Surgery and Accident Recovery Fund

I am writing this call for support to fundraise for my upcoming top surgery, fees for doctor visits and my psychiatric letter of support for surgery, and living/medical expenses while I'm in recovery for the months after and unable to work.

Separately, I was also hit by a high-speed motorcycle in a hit-and-run accident last month and ended up in the ER, where I experienced medical neglect and transphobia. My injuries have caused swelling in my knee and nerve damage throughout my hand and both arms that hasn't subsided since. This accident also severely exacerbated my preexisting chronic nerve pain in both arms, leaving me unable to walk, stand, or work much without extreme pain, even with strong prescribed painkillers. As a result, my healing time after top surgery is expected to be significantly prolonged as well. I hope to see a doctor for X-rays and medical exams the ER should have provided & to begin physical therapy as soon as possible, and I will need additional funds to see me through the rehabilitation process.

As a chef, organizer, and in my multiple jobs at high-traffic queer and trans bars, all my work requires a high level of mobility, fast-paced physical labor, and up to 13+ hour shifts on my feet. I was hoping to be able to work this summer to save funds for top surgery, but I'm unable to work full-time indefinitely until and unless my injuries can heal. I have included an itemized list below detailing how the funds will be used.
