Yellow Benjy (1952-2017)

Donation protected

On May 28, we lost Benjamin “Yellow Benjy” Melendez.

In 1971, as the leader of the Ghetto Brothers, Benjy forged a peace treaty between the gangs of the South Bronx that made it possible for hip-hop to develop several years later. He was also the leader of the Ghetto Brothers band, who released a classic album in 1972 and continued to perform well into the 2000s.

Benjy’s life was dedicated to music and peace.

All of the money raised by this Gofundme will go to pay for unpaid medical and other bills, family expenses, and his children’s education.
