We have been extremely fortunate to employ such a hardworking and dedicated man to his family, wife, children and career as Jeff Wilden who has been an employee here at Slatter Construction for 29 years. He does everything at 150% down to the last detail!
A few months ago we learned Jeff was diagnosed with Myelodyplastic Syndromes(MDS) a rare group of disorders in which your body no longer makes enough healthy blood cells, sometimes called "bone marrow failure disorder".
Most people who get this are 65 or older but it can happen to younger people as well. It's more common in men, the disease is also known as a form of blood cancer. Jeff will be planning to take 6-12 months off after his bone marrow transplant.
Jeff's amazing wife Pam will be his caregiver for the 100 days post transplant as is mandated by Stanford Med. She will be using FMLA which will secure her job for up to 12 weeks and then she will hopefully find some way to extend her leave until 3/21. They have a secured rental in Redwood City when Jeff is discharged from Stanford where he will be living like 'The Boy in the Bubble' as Jeff will need to grow a whole new bone marrow system and will be immunocompromised.
Our goal here is to help raise whatever we can for rental and mortgage expenses as well as all normal living expenses and see Jeff recover so he can come back to work in the near future. If you could find it in your heart to donate to this wonderful man, there are few more deserving!
