Support a Trans Man’s Right to Healthcare, Dignity & Healing
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Máximo. Lately, we’ve been hearing a lot about “rights and freedoms” and for transgender people like me, those words are deeply personal. We’re scared about what’s happening in the world and just trying to make it through, day by day.
I’m a transgender man and I am ready to “Yeet the Ute*” — aka have a life-changing, medically necessary gender-affirming surgery: a total hysterectomy. My uterus is three times the size it should be, and I have multiple large fibroids - at least three are the size of softballs - causing daily pain and distress. Being a trans man with a body that makes me look pregnant only worsens my dysphoria. After years of suffering in pain and insurance hurdles, I’m finally going to get the care I need.
While I’m incredibly grateful to be moving forward with this surgery, I face a major challenge: I’ll be out of work while I recover, and without paid leave, I need support to cover rent, utilities, and basic needs.
The world feels heavy, and many of us - especially transgender people - are facing increasing hostility. But in the face of it all, kindness remains a powerful force. Compassion is contagious. When we show up for one another, we create ripples of support that extend beyond just one person. Today, I’m asking for your kindness—not just for me, but as a reminder that we can still choose to care for each other, even when the world tries to divide us.
Access to gender-affirming care is not just about healthcare — it’s about basic human rights. The freedom to exist as ourselves, to make decisions about our own bodies, and to live with dignity should never be up for debate. Yet, trans people across the country are facing relentless attacks on our rights, making it even harder to access the care we need. In moments like these, mutual aid and community support become acts of resistance.
As a queer, transgender Latino man without (blood) family support, I’ve had to navigate this journey largely on my own. But last year, I realized that I’m not alone — I have an incredible community that believes in showing up for one another. So today, I’m humbly reaching out for help.
If you’re able, I would be deeply grateful for any support — whether that’s donating or sharing this fundraiser with your network. Every act of kindness makes a difference, and together, we remind each other that no one has to go through this alone.
Thank you for standing with me on this journey — your support means everything.
