Hi everyone. As most of you know, the photo above is of my parents. They are great people and have helped numerous others over the years with everything from rides to doctor appointments to a hot meal and place to sleep for many of our friends growing up. My dad Bill served for 30 years in both the Pulaski and Richland fire departments and continues to serve in various capacities today. All of my life my parents have gone without and done without, never asking for help in return. Some of you in my friend list know this first hand.
Today, they need help. My dad specifically needs help, but truth be told, it really is for both of them. My dad has cataract and his vision is failing him. His only option now is surgery. Without the surgery he soon will not be able to drive and things will progress negatively from there.
This brings me to the problem at hand. My parents have insurance and are thankful that the insurance will cover the surgery and follow up. What the insurance will not cover is the specialized lenses that need to be purchased and implanted. I'm not sure what the reason given is but they will not pay a dime for the lenses that he needs. These lenses cost $850 a piece. That is a price tag that my folks cannot handle but having my dad in a position where he cannot drive and worse is unacceptable to me when the technology to fix the problem exists.
So I'm asking for your help during this giving time of year. They won't ask for it so I'm doing it for them. Please, every little bit helps if you can spare a few dollars. Thank you all and Merry Christmas!
