Funeral fund- Battle of Bulge HERO Greg Sarmanian

Pfc Greg Sarmanian  Served in the 18th Mechanized Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron at the Battle of the Bulge - December 15-18 1944. During the German Tank Assault and under intense enemy fire and without regard for his own severe wounds from enemy bullet and mortar fire, he saved the lives of  7  wounded men by taking them out of harms way to behind his own lines. He was approved for the Medal of Honor by George Patton and was subsequently awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, multiple purple hearts and three battle stars. He used his GI Bill to get a Masters of Arts From Harvard University and a second Masters from UCLA in Electrical Engineering. He never spoke of his gallantry during WWII while a 63 year resident of Palos Verdes Estates until shortly before his passing on Christmas Eve, 2018 at age of 96. His wife suffered a stroke recently and will require continued full time home care. Pfc Sarmanian will be interred at the Arlington National Cemetery with full honors and the Veterans Benefits will provide less than half the cost of preparation, local arrangements and transportation of remains to Arlington. The Neighbors and family are planning a memorial service open to the community to pay their respects. The funds will be use to offset the expenses and provide a proper recognition in his honor. Any Remaining funds will be distributed to the family for continued care of his widow.
Funds will be administered by his 27 year neighbor and who walked their dogs together for over 20 years and was appointed by the family handle the arrangements and present the Eulogy. The Memorial Service will be February 8, 2019 at the Palos Verdes Country Club and burial with full honors at the Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined in the Spring.
