Yeards for Male Suicide Prevention
A late night challenge to see who could grow their beard the longest has grown to a cause bigger than our own egos.
Today, six Australian men will commit suicide. That’s three times more men than women. Despite this, men are three times LESS likely to seek mental health support.
Unlike women, the rate of suicide in men steadily climbs from their twenties onward. It’s not just our younger mates that are at risk, but our fathers, grandfathers, colleagues.
We’re hoping that the pleasure of seeing our increasingly hairy mugs as we commit to a “yeard” throughout 2019 will remind you to either look for help yourselves or encourage those around you to do so. At the very least sling us a few dollars to share with the charity Male Suicide Prevention Australia. You’ll turn our hairy mugs into happy mugs!
