Yearbooks for ARISE Seniors

Hello, my name is Martha Alvarez, and I am currently one of the science and student activities teachers at ARISE High School. We are a high school located in the Fruitvale District of Oakland, CA.

Over the past year, I have watched our students struggle to re-adapt to in-person instruction and re-establish the community that they once had in the classroom. Throughout the school year, I have worked closely with the senior class as they have navigated college admissions, financial aid applications, and college and career decisions. These tasks were all done while reconnecting before parting ways this June. Aside from academics, most of our students contribute to their expenses at home and work jobs after school each day.

Many expenses have piled up for our seniors as they've re-familiarized themselves with the school. Yearbooks are typically an expense that students in our community are willing to sacrifice. For this reason, I am raising funds to provide our students at ARISE with yearbooks to remember their final year at ARISE and continue connecting for the remainder of our school year.

Yearbooks are around $25 each to produce. Our senior class has about 85 students. All extra yearbooks ordered will be distributed to students in other grade levels to continue building community and re-establish our Yearbook tradition at ARISE. This funding will help me bring a subtle yet memorable surprise to our graduating seniors. All extra funds raised will provide seniors with more financial support to put on their end-of-year events.
