Apex Football Alums and Family We Need YOUR Help!
I won’t take up too much time, just a couple quick items. First, many of you may not know but several of us formed an Apex Football Alums group a few years ago to support the Apex High Football program. Long story short, the program was going through some trying times and we felt like we needed to gather some family support to rally around the game that we love, in the place that we love and with the folks that we love. Fast forward, Apex just finished one of its best seasons in program history, boasting a 10-2 record. The Cougars lost to #1 ranked Durham Hillside in the 2nd round of the state playoffs 43-40 under the leadership of first year Head Coach John Mozerka. Though Coach Mozerka is a California transplant, he has welcomed Apex Football Alums with open arms and really brought back the family atmosphere at the high school.
That brings me to the second item, our group wants to do something special for these guys to show our love and support. We are striving to raise enough money to cover their end of season football banquet which will be held December 7th. They have almost 250 folks so even with negotiating great deals it still costs a lot of money! We anticipate the total cost of the Banquet to be about $6000. We have already raised about half of the money through corporate sponsors and hope to raise the remainder through Football Alums. Please join us in this effort and, more importantly, join our group and help support our guys throughout the season…know we do not ask for any money beyond this one event a year!! What we ARE saying is come out and join us at a game, a practice, or a gym session. You have never seen any football program rise to a high level of success when there isn’t a family environment between current and former players and coaches! Many of the lessons we learned about life we learned on a football field! This is our opportunity to give back! 100% of the proceeds, beyond the fees GoFundMe charges, goes to the football team!
