Year 11 Prom (organised by parents)
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Vicky and I am one of a group of parents trying to organise our soon to be school leavers prom.
We are requesting help to pay for a prom due to school really not being very supportive. The current year 11s were Covid’s year 6s that all missed out on a leavers assembly, school leaving party, signing shirts etc. This was due to bubble rules introduced by the government meaning a lot of them couldn’t say goodbye to their friends they were heading for different schools.
My daughter’s school, based in Sheldon, did originally arrange a prom. This was a Wednesday evening in June, 6pm-9pm because in their words “three hours is enough for a children's party”. This isn’t a ‘children’s party’ this is a once in a lifetime event for young adults that have already missed out once.
School have also put a strict criteria in place meaning some children were excluded from the get go.
We have a venue that has halved the price of their usual cost, event decor that have put together a generous package and a DJ.
We would really appreciate any little help that we can get to make this happen.
Thank you, on behalf of the Year 11 students.
