Save Mel Sole's Golf School, organized by Rosemary Sole

My name is Rosemary Sole and I am the wife of Mel Sole, professional golf instructor of 50 years.

Mel has enjoyed a stellar career coaching golfers of all ages and skill levels but is now facing a financial challenge that threatens to close down his golf school, located at Pawleys Plantation in Pawleys Is., SC. Serious health issues, brought on by a bone infection called Osteomyelitis, have recently resulted in two foot surgeries (three toes were amputated), blood clots and Bronchitis. With hospitalization and down time, Mel has lost all income for the 2023 Spring season. For 31 years, March, April and May have been Mel's 'bread and butter season' which keeps his business alive the rest of the year. As you can imagine, the costs of running a business, certain medical costs and the finances required for every day living are astronomical for a self-employed man with no income.

I've started this GoFundMe account for two reasons:

•So that Mel, a kind and talented golf instructor, can get his life back. Kind? He's worked for

years with Juniors and physically challenged golfers who can't afford lesson fees. Talented? Mel

has been consistently named 'Top Teacher' by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest, plus the Mel Sole

Golf School has been ranked 'Top 25 USA Golf Schools' since 1999.

•So that Mel's many students can return to him and continue their game improvement goals.

The goal is to raise enough funds, by July 31st, 2023, to pay Mel's bills, which include rent at the teaching facility, equipment, liability insurance, web site hosting, etc. We are shooting for $50,000 which is the amount of money lost in this 3 month season. Donations of any size to this GoFundMe account will help to keep the golf school open and will return my husband to doing the thing he loves most in the world. Mel and his doctors plan for Mel to return to teaching in early summer this year. He is making good progress with his healing.

I know with all my heart that Mel has many good years left and I long to see his face light up again when a student achieves his/her goals.
