Help Jeremy with his Medical Bills
Donation protected
My Brother Jeremy was on a family vacation up at Johnson Lane OHV area, and had an accident on a Dirt Bike. Luckily he was close to camp when it happened, and our Friend Aaron was close by along with his Wife Dani, because no one saw it until after it happened. Aaron Rode to camp and called for help. Jeremy doesn't remember exactly what happened other than he thought he should bail, but decided to try and ride it out. The outcome wasn't what he thought. He came up and over a hill, and what we could figure was that he hit the whoops on the other side, and the bikes suspension bucked him up. We think he held on, and came down face first on the handle bars, then went over and landed on his back side. When we got to him, his helmet was still on, he was able to pull it off even know he probably shouldn't have. As we were running up to him, he rolled over to his back, and was in immediate pain. He had sever back pain. As we were securing him we called 911. We worked to keep him calm and still as the pain was getting worse. It took about 30 minutes for EMS and Sheriffs to arrive on scene. Once on scene, they took over and secured him. Due to injuries and the location we were camped at, they made the call to call in a flight. They set him up on a back board, and got him secured in the Ambulance awaiting the helicopter. Once the Helicopter was there, they got him loaded up for the flight to Reno Regional Medical in Reno.
Once Jeremy was at the Hospital they took X-Rays and also did a CT scan to see what had happened. His wife and I got there about an hour later. The Dr. was very vague on the descriptions of his injuries. Said "you broke a couple bones in you back and your pelvis, and you have a punctured lung." None of the nurses seemed to know anything either. They moved him to another room, and the new nurses didn't even know what his injuries were when we got there, and they put him through a lot. Later we got more clarification that it was a bruised lung, badly broken Sacrum on the Left, and also broken on the right side, and his L3 and L4 were fractured diagonally. He also needed stiches on his lip, inside and out, as well as a couple broken teeth that will need to be fixed.
After a couple days the Orthopedic Bone Specialist was able to see him. The Specialist wanted to see if he could get up and stand, Jeremy was very strong and went through a lot of pain, but he was able to do it three times. They decided to scheduled him to go under anesthesia so they can set the Sacrum in place and see if it would move, it did, so they ended up pinning his Sacrum from both his left and right side. He now has a couple Lag Bolts holding him together. Jeremy's 8 year old Son was very upset and scared for his father, but after he was able to visit him at the hospital and spend a few hours with him to see that his Dad is going to be alright, he felt a lot better, and understands that he broke a couple bones, and he wont be able to go camping and fishing for a while, but will make a full recovery.
Due to his injuries he is not to stand or walk for at least 6 weeks it could be 8 weeks. If you know Jeremy this is pretty hard for him he doesn't like to sit around. After that he will likely have some Physical Therapy to go through. All in all he will probably be out of work for a minimum of 12 weeks.
Jeremy and Dani are trying to set up disability insurance and family leave, but it is not working very fast right now with all that is going on in the world. With Jeremy not working from his injuries, and Dani not working to stay home and help him out, they can really use the help right now.
The funds from the Go Fund Me will be used to pay off medical expenses, medication, and treatments, along with trying to stay ahead of any other bills that come up. We understand that hard times have fallen on everyone over the last year, just know that any donation would be greatly appreciated, and welcomed.
