Blake’s Battle

Blake spent his 16th birthday at All Children’s Hospital. After a full day of testing he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma. Ewing’s Sarcoma is a type of cancer that occurs in and around the bones of children and young adults. It is extremely rare, fewer than 1,000 cases per year. Blake is very active and loves playing games, being with his friends, and spending time with his family. He lives with his single mother, Lisa, who is self employed. She has to take many weeks off of work to transport Blake and be with him during his fight and healing process. The cancer has grown to engulf Blake’s whole left thigh and has recently spread to his arm, ribs, and lungs. Blake starts chemotherapy on March 19th and then has to have a procedure to remove from his left hip joint all the way down to his left knee. They will be removing the bone and replacing it with Titanium. After that he will have to go through a month of physical therapy to learn to walk again, and then has to go on chemotherapy again for a short duration before undergoing radiation to hopefully remove what is left of the cancer in his arm, ribs, and lungs. Blake is a young, healthy kid who did everything right. It has been very stressful on everyone, but we are very grateful to have love and support from our family and friends. The funds raised from this campaign will go towards Blake’s medical expenses and allow Lisa to take the time off she needs to be there for Blake.
