Hi, my name is Carissa, and I’m Cayla’s sister. Many of you have followed my nephew Luca’s journey through his battle with Pearson syndrome over the years.

Recently, he was hospitalized due to a serious infection that entered his bloodstream. While his condition hasn’t worsened, we know it’s going to be a long road to recovery.

Cayla and her husband are now caring for a newborn and a two-year-old, while also managing Luca’s ongoing medical needs. With both parents unable to work at the moment, they face many challenges ahead—frequent hospital visits, therapies, travel, and caring for their other children.

I know many of their friends, supporters, and followers have asked how they can help. We’ve felt so much love through your thoughts, prayers, and messages. I wanted to share this message as a simple way to keep everyone updated, and to let you know that any support during this time means the world.
