When a friend has a terminally ill relative, it can feel like their whole world has collapsed. Believe me I know that feeling ......
This summer I met hard working Woman named Jennifer through a mutual friend after my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Our mutual friend put me in touch with Jenny a few months ago. August 2018 when my mom got the diagnosis. Jenny’s mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer a few months before my mom. After texting and a few phone calls she became my person. Having someone to talk about the hardest time in our lives , that is going through and feeling the same has meant everything. Hearing that her mom isn’t doing well breaks my heart the thought of her diagnosed just a few months before my best friend my everything my mom kills me .
Jennifer’s family moved here from Germany and although they are a very hard working family, cancer has taken a huge toll, to where they are now struggling financially.
While in smithers BC , Jennifer is working as well as her father trying to keep things in order, her mother sits alone with advanced stage 4 lung cancer in Prince George hospital. That is hours away from home while her mom is having hard times with this round of treatments with pain, and things just not going well. This has been for 2 weeks now and her family has only been able to see her for 1 night.
Now some families are never truly prepared for the word “CANCER” happening to them but from the moment your crushed with this diagnosis there’s no time to waist it’s go time between traveling to doctors , biopsies, radiation, chemo etc it adds up fast. When someone doesn’t have medical coverage, they still have day to day bills on top of coping with a loved ones illness. My parents have ok medical thankfully but even with that it’s not easy for anyone. I couldn’t imagine my mom sitting in a hospital all alone due to financial issues while she’s fighting for her life. Jennifer is the only daughter out of her siblings that came to Canada 6 years ago from Germany to be with her parents. She works crazy long days and always makes time for her mom and her father cares for his wife every minute he can all while still maintaining his job but unfortunately is unable to take anymore time off.
Cancer doesn’t just go away like a flu or virus. Cancer is a long, very long road of fighting for your life. Fighting is getting to be so hard for Jenny and her family, she’s doing everything in her will and staying as strong as she can but just needs a little help financially.
I suggested this go fund me page and hope there’s ppl out there that can help.
