Help Tom Walk Again
Donation protected
As many of you already know, Tom Hawley suffered a life-altering dirt bike accident on July 25, 2019. All that Tom, an avid rider, can remember is riding with his friend, when he over shot a jump, causing him to go over the handlebars of his bike. The bike ended up on top of him, breaking both his back and neck. Although he remained conscious, he was severely disoriented as he was air lifted to the hospital.
Since then, doctors have told Tom that there is a chance he may never walk again due to shattering Vertebrates C7 and T1 and severe spinal cord damage. Tom has some movement in his right arm and a little movement in his right leg. Everyone is hopeful that after extensive rehabilitation, he will regain the use of his right arm and hand and, in time, walk again.
Once able to leave the hospital, he went directly to an in patient rehabilitation center, where he remained until September 5th. Although he received extensive Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy while in rehab, he still continues to need them both in home and out.
Tragically, Tom's life will never be the same. He is facing an arduous and overwhelming recovery. We are raising funds to help Tom and Shelly offset the expected medical costs that are unfathomable.
For anyone who knows Tom well, they know that Tom has the biggest and most generous heart for his family and others. They also know how stubborn Tom can be. Therefore, when Tom says that he will walk again, we believe that he WILL walk again. Tom's fighting spirit has come out in full force in this terrible time.
We are so very grateful for anything you can donate to help Tom, Shelly, and Jacquelyn. It means more than you will ever know. Finally, if you could keep Tom and his family in your thoughts and prayers, we believe those will be a truly powerful force in his recovery.
Thank you so very much.
