He came to the United States from Lima, Peru, with his family more than two years ago, carrying the same hopes and dreams that bring so many hardworking families here: the desire to build a better, safer life for his children. Since then, he has become deeply loved by all the students and staff at the school where he works as a janitor. His kindness, work ethic, and warm presence have touched countless lives, often in quiet ways that only a truly good person can.

Just four months ago, Juan Carlos and his wife welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Luna, completing their close-knit and loving family. Every moment outside of work is spent with his children, who absolutely adore him.

But their world was turned upside down recently.

During what should have been a routine, yearly check-in at the San Francisco immigration office, he was unexpectedly detained. Like so many families facing this frightening and uncertain situation, they have had to secure a private attorney to fight for his release and reunite him with his family. The emotional toll has been overwhelming and the financial burden is rapidly growing.
