Medical and living expense help for Ron Curry
Donation protected
Ron Curry friend father husband son brother renovator extraordinaire artist musician was diagnosed with throat and lymph node cancer in January. While the prognosis is excellent, the treatment is debilitating.
Ron recently started a new job working for Lowe’s, because the physical demands of home and bathroom renovations were too much for a middle-aged body. Unfortunately he hasn’t been on the job long enough to have medical leave benefits. His wife Michelle is having to take unpaid leave to help Ron negotiate treatment.
He is receiving radiation treatments five days a week. His first of three chemotherapy treatments wracked his body. He lost seven pounds in the first week. Because of the nature of his cancer and the focus of the radiation, he is having trouble eating and swallowing. He may have to have a feeding tube inserted to get his nutritional needs met. He may have to resign his position at Lowe’s while he continues treatment. There is a good chance that he will be able to return to the company when he is well.
In the meantime Ron and Michelle need financial help with house payments, living expenses, and added medical costs. Prior to beginning his job with Lowe’s, Ron had minimal income because he was dealing with a prolonged shoulder injury. In the past several years, Ron had to deal with the financial consequences of a garage fire and an accident where he almost severed his finger. Consequently there is no financial cushion to rely on.
We decided to put out this general appeal to help Ron, Michelle, and their two children. Those of you who know Ron have most likely observed and been the recipient of his generosity. He goes to thrift stores and finds the perfect gift for a friend. If you are down on your luck, Ron is there. He and his wife have helped her brother and his family in the Philippines. If he has three dollars in his pocket and you are hungry, he’ll give them to you. He’s a great guy who volunteers his time. Lots of you know him through the music community in Richmond and beyond. He’s been involved with the public radio community in Richmond.
Now they need our help. Please post this appeal on your page. Please make a donation. Let’s get the support going for Ron. I know many of you love them and have wanted to know what you can do. Every little bit helps. Thanks for helping Ron and Michelle Curry.
