The impact and aftermath of the recent torrential rains in Chennai, India, is beyond imagination. In the ensuing floods, thousands of families lost their homes, all their precious belongings including their all their clothing were destroyed by several feet of water and mud. The survivors of this deluge need clothes, medical supplies and much, much more.

Our local community has donated clothes and other essential items for the needy. These have been gathered, sorted, packed in boxes for a 20’ container (980 cubic feet). Our estimated total worth of all of our donations is around $25,000. Our current challenge is to raise the $4000, which is the total shipping cost for our container.

We have a clear distribution network for these materials once in Chennai. They will be distributed to the needy by the volunteers of the Rotary Club, who have been distributing clothes to several hard hit areas in and around Chennai.
