New Nose Completed - THANK YOU

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jane Tarr and I have had a rather large nose sculpture on the side of my house since 1995. It seems to have become a Bristol icon and is featured in many guidebooks of Bristol! The first nose was created from chicken wire and papier mache and lasted for 11 years until someone pushed a pole up one of the nostrils and it began to fall apart. The second nose went up in 2007 made from willow. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/6623991.stm). Birds have been taking sticks for their nests and now in 2023, as you can see from the photo, it is time for the 3rd nose!

There is a short video about the nose on Facebook see https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=4139995172719072

We have received a proposal from Kennedy Chinyere, a Zimbabwean sculptor, to create a new nose using local bamboo.

He says it will be stronger than Willow and has been preparing his materials, drawing his designs and hoping to start work soon.
My local builder says he will paint the back of the house and I am happy to pay for this and the scaffolding required but he says he cannot make a nose so I need to engage an artiste of Kennedy's calibre. You can see photos of his work below.

If you feel that the nose should be renovated with a new bamboo nose, created for the benefit of local Bristolians then please donate to this fundraising campaign and know that you have been a part of the 3rd Nose Job and continuation of this Bristol icon.
