Hello, our name is Nicholas and Diane. My parents and I rented a condo 30 years ago with no issues in the community. My son is 26 years old and has lived there all his life. Then a year ago, a couple bought the condo next store to us, gutted the place, and altered the common wall we share. We don't habitually put our life's problems on social media. Right now, we need your help.
These people could hear everything we said. Then they went around the neighborhood to say we were mean and not very nice people, and someone told them that we rented. They then started harassing us by banging on the wall for hours, almost daily. They verbally and physically threatened to hurt and shoot us. First, it was the husband, and then the wife would start in. The husband said he would shoot through our wall, and if that didn't make us leave, he would ensure he found a way to get us out. We called the police, but they could do very little. They went over and talked to them, but it did no good. Then they would send a letter to property management saying they were loud and noisy all night. Then the Board cited in with the couple because they were owners. My landlord did nothing. At this time, my son was working at a Level 1 Trauma Hospital, and this man threatened to go down to the hospital and shoot him and then come back and rape me and kill my animals. The board, landlord and property management knew this and did nothing. Security at the hospital had to be notified by supervisors and managers. They would bang on our walls so much that plaster was knocked out. They kicked our back fence gate and split the boards. I notified the owner they did nothing. Then April 20th, I was pushed down at my front door by a woman. I couldn't get up, and the police came, and they called the ambulance and I went to the hospital with severe injuries to my legs. I let the owner know, and they did nothing. I may end up having to walk with a permanent limp. While in the ER, more security was called because my life was threatened, and there were threats to the hospital. The police knew she pushed me, but I couldn't make a positive ID. The board and HOA wanted us out because we were a problem. They started to fine the owners, and they got mad and said we had 30 days to leave. The owners never cared about our well-being. My son lost his job, but he will be able to return at some point. Now not sure when. Then July 20th, I tested for COVID and was sick in bed. The owner asked if I had another place, and I said no and told her I had COVID. She said I had to be out by Aug. 1st, or she would start eviction proceedings, and then we would be locked out. We left so much behind so that we could be out. We had no permanent place to go. We can't afford the rent and deposits to move us to another location. A friend opened her home to us, but it is temporary. We need help to get back into another place. We have tried shelters, but there is no room. We have attempted programs either we don't qualify, or they don't have the funds. Please help us get back on our feet.
