Hey I’m Dawn aka Bunny. As many of you know I’ve been holding off on several surgeries due to my health going wild. Unfortunately due to a multitude of things that struck at once- autoimmune disease, stress fracture, infection etc it’s become emergent to get my “good” hip replaced. With this comes the portion I’m responsible for as well as some added expenses that aren’t covered like having someone walk the dogs, extra med costs etc.

Update: The first surgery in Dec was postponed because I have an infection. We are currently doing IV antibtoics to treat that and aiming for a new surgery date of Feb 1. The part I am responsible for did go up due to a new year starting and that’s the reason for the increase in amount requested. It’s also emergent I get this done because of the 2 lesions that found in my hip area one which is osteo necrosis and the other is chrondsarcoma. One will be taken care of with the hip replacement and the other will be scraped and filled with bone cement. Because I was on biologics and immunocompromised it’s just so easy for me to get staph infections from tiny scratches etc. we are hoping this IV meds take care of it so I don’t have to go inpatient to wipe the infection. I have to have the infection gone for surgery because of my immune system and healing and also because I am diabetic which slows my healing as well. Thank y’all!!

It will be a 3 day stay in the hospital and about 4/6 weeks confined to my bed with HHA and a nurse coming daily. This will be my first surgery going at it without having Kay as my caretaker and living alone. Afterwards I will have PT to make my bionic hip work like my bionic spine.

Because I’m on a fixed income and various extra expenses I’ve had this past year (it’s been a doozy) - even with my own money I’m going to still need $2650. I’ve also got to get this paid in as soon as possible so I don’t lose my surgery spot and can start preparing for this.

In order to hold my spot I do need to have everything together by Dec 1 to have my Dec 19th surgery spot. I’m hoping to do this because if I do it after the new year my deductible will go up quite a bit and it will be way harder to get done. 

I appreciate any and all help. I know this is hard times for all. If I could push this off I would but it would put me in a wheelchair pretty much full time which I’m not ready for yet.
