Medical Expenses

Hello. We weren’t going to do this, but we’ve had some community groups/organizations request it, so here we are. I made this gofundme page for my parents, Franklin and Allisha Isley.

The day after Thanksgiving my stepfather was in a really bad car wreck due to him having a seizure followed by a stroke. His injuries consisted of: internal bleeding to his right kidney and liver, both legs broken at the knees, 12 broken ribs, 6 damaged discs in his back, fractured cervical vertebrae in his neck, and hit his head pretty hard.

The day of the wreck he had emergency surgeries to brace his legs with screws and rods holding everything together leaving him to be no weight baring. They placed a tube in him to help drain the blood from his stomach. He was unconscious for the first 3 days and unable to breathe on his own so he was also placed on a vent.

Poppa Frank spent 40 long days in the hospital and then had to go to a rehab facility for a week or so after that. January 2nd he was able to come home, however, he’s still very much in the same boat. Still can’t walk or anything on his own and now there are home health nurses having to stop by as well. My mom is having to do all the heavy lifting as well as take care of my sister.

As many of you know my mom battles cancer. Although she’s been an AMAZING caregiver for papa Frank and my sister, she’s been neglecting her own appointments. He was the main provider for the house so that she could do what she needed for her health. Now she’s having to fill in so that they don’t get behind.

This is no sob story. I’m not trying to pull at your heartstrings. It’s just really hard times and being 4hrs from them has mine and my brother’s hands tied for what she really needs from us. Whether it’s a meal or groceries or just some prayers, we’re forever grateful. Thank you to those who already reached out to her. This too shall pass.
