Get outdoors

Hi, my name is Kyle Pearson, I’m 41 years old and I have Multiple Sclerosis. I was diagnosed in 2015 but my body was acting weird for quite sometime, I just didn’t know what was wrong. At first my left leg became weak and painful, so I started using a cane, then my balance started to go until I was falling often. Those falls gained me many scrapes and bruises and finally a broken thumb which required a surgical repair. That was the last fall before I transitioned to a walker. Can you imagine not even forty years old and having to use a walker?
I have worked in the oilfield my whole life and continued to even after my diagnosis. I started as a teenager doing pipe inspections, and then worked on the rigs, then moved rigs, was a forklift operator and finally in the office as a dispatcher. Rarely was my work close to home so I put my walker in the pickup and went wherever the work was.
MS treatments seem to be a crap shoot, the Dr. gave me a choice of meds and explained the side effects, that was the beginning of the disease modifying drugs that I have been on. I went through five different meds but my disease never went into remission and the MS kept doing more damage. I finally went through two years of Mavenclade and now my latest MRI shows no new lesions. It’s good news and I’m very grateful that the MS is not active. Because of the constant progression of the disease I have the after effects from all the nerve damage. I have lost the ability to walk, my left leg and left arm don’t work, my balance is gone and my vision is affected. The fatigue is terrible and it is the thing that makes everything worse…I have tiny bits of energy to get through my day and I often hope that I will have enough to use the bathroom on my own.
Multiple Sclerosis has taken so much from me…I loved my work and being able to provide for my family. I miss going camping and hunting and fishing with my family and friends. The list of things that I miss is long…
I’m trapped in a body that keeps me stuck in a wheelchair. I truly want my life back, I want to get outdoors again and I don’t want to be stuck on the sidelines anymore.
This go fund me has two purposes. First, I am hoping to receive stem cells, there is great promise that the treatment could greatly improve my quality of life but insurance doesn’t cover most alternative therapies.
Second, is a Track Chair or all terrain chair to get outdoors and enjoy the freedom and independence that it would provide.
Asking for help is no easy thing but that’s what I’m doing.
I’m asking for your help so I may have more a better quality of life.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
