Help save my brother, Tim Violet’s life!!!

UPDATE….  Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14th. Tim’s company was bought out by IKEA.  This qualified him to get insurance through IKEA.  VCU Preauthorized the surgery and his insurance approved it. They will pay 70% of the surgery. We will only have to pay 30%.  We are estimating we will owe approximately $150,000.  This is still a lot but way better than what we were thinking.   This doesn’t include the time he is missing work as there was a preexisting clause and he is not eligible for disability.

 November 2020 my brothers life changed. He began having abdominal pain and was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. Unfortunately, there isn’t any treatment for this. He was able to manage the pain for about one year without medication. During this time he has had numerous testing, appointments, and been admitted to the hospital several times. The pain has gotten progressively worse and he has been in the hospital for almost two weeks now. He is no longer able to work at all. A specialist in Virginia is willing to do the TPIAT surgery. The TPIAT procedure involves surgical removal of the entire pancreas followed by reconstruction of the gastrointestinal tract. Once the pancreas is removed, the islet cell isolation team immediately processes the pancreatic tissue to isolate the insulin-producing islet cells. The islet cells are then transfused into the liver. This is a 12 hour long surgery. He will be in ICU in Virginia for at least 2-3 days and in the hospital there for approximately a month.  The cost will probably be close to $500,000 if not more.
