Help Melanie get home

For those of you who know Melanie, you may know that she suffered a sudden and severe stroke on September 1st of this year. Mel has been transferred from the hospital to a rehab facility where she is working hard with a dedicated team to try and get her walking and talking again. The stroke has left Melanie with complete right sided paralysis and aphasia. This means that she can’t move her right arm or leg, and as of right now, is unable to communicate effectively. This has been devastating for Melanie, and of course, her entire family. Mel’s husband, Matt, has been off of work since it happened, to help care for Mel and their three children. Their eldest, Lucas and Paige are in high school (Paige just started this September) and their youngest, Lexi, is just three years old, and up until now was at home full time with Mel. Lexi recently started daycare full time to give Matt the time to be at the rehab with Melanie.

This situation has been unimaginably difficult for their family on an emotional level, but unfortunately also, a huge financial burden.

Currently, they live in an apartment in Montréal that has a long flight of stairs. Since Mel cannot walk, in order for her to return home to her family, they will need to move to a more accessible building. This is proving to be very difficult to find and very expensive. She will need plenty of adaptive services both in her home and for transportation. For this reason, we have decided to start this fundraiser to try and help get Melanie back home to her family and provide a little bit of support to her and her family. We would love to help alleviate some of their financial stress, so that it is one less thing to worry about.

For those of you who know Mel, you know that she is a kind and loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend. We all miss her terribly and pray for her recovery. Any amount would help. Thanks so much everyone.
