Help My Dad Get The Care He Needs

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tina, and I’m reaching out for help during one of the most challenging times in my life. My dad, who is only 63 years old, has been battling serious health issues for a long time. He’s always tried to be strong, refusing to see a doctor or go to the hospital despite my constant begging ever since he moved in with me two years ago.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, his condition became so severe that I had no choice but to call an ambulance, terrified that I might lose him. He is still in the hospital, currently recovering from septic shock, a heart attack, and a UTI. Doctors have diagnosed him with diabetes, which they believe he’s had for years, and possibly COPD. He now requires breathing treatments and daily blood pressure monitoring. The doctors are also saying he needs open heart bypass surgery and colovesical fistula surgery for an abnormal connection that formed between his colon and bladder which is likely to be the source of the sepsis infection. Unfortunately, these life-saving procedures may be denied because he doesn’t have insurance.

I’m doing everything I can to get him the care he needs. I’ve started applications for Medicare and Medicaid, but these processes can take months. I’ve had to leave work to stay by his side, especially since he is Vietnamese and doesn’t understand English well or fully grasp how sick he truly is. My dad is stubborn, but he is strong and he’s my dad and I love him. It’s just the two of us, and I can’t do this alone.

Your generosity could give my dad the chance to fight for his life. Donations will go directly toward his medical expenses, medications, our living expenses and any care he needs to recover until he is able to have surgery. No donation is too small, and we are incredibly grateful for every prayer and share of this fundraiser as well. Thank you for your kindness and support during this difficult time.

Happy New Year,
I’m so grateful to share that my dad had a successful open-heart surgery for a triple bypass. The doctors say he is recovering well.
I thought we were going to be able to have him back home already to celebrate the New Year together but it looks like we’ll need to remain in the hospital for a little longer to ensure his recovery stays on track.

Once discharged, he will continue his recovery at home and once he is recovered well enough he will need to prepare for another surgery to fix his colovesical fistula, which is another serious concern.

During his recovery, I’ll need to be his full time caregiver for a few weeks as he regains his strength and independence. This means I won’t be able to return to work just yet, and we will still need support to help cover his medications, follow-up care, and our basic living expenses.
Your kindness and generosity have carried us through this incredibly challenging time, and we’re so thankful for every contribution, prayer, and word of encouragement. Any continued support would make a world of difference in helping me take care of my dad and focus on his healing.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of our journey.
