A Devastating Diagnosis and Ongoing Battle
In early October, Amanda (29), who was approximately 20 weeks pregnant at the time, suffered an injury while at work. She was inaccurately diagnosed at that time with a slipped disc. She was unable to work, care for her baby, or function normally after the symptoms began worsening. The pain was out of control, and she started to lose sensation in feet and legs and then the ability to walk. This was extremely alarming. It was voiced many times by Amanda that something more severe was going on, and finally, imaging was done, which revealed devastating news that no one was ready for or could comprehend. Amanda had masses on her ovaries and liver. She also had two broken vertebrae on her spine and extreme spinal compression from cancer. She also has an aggressive form of breast cancer, a rare type affecting less than 1% of all diagnosed patients. Amanda's cancer is stage 4.
Amanda is currently unable to work and will not be returning to work. Her eight years of dedicated service to her company did not prevent the loss of her employer-contributed healthcare benefits after four weeks. The insurance payment in the interim of her husband's open enrollment is $2,900 a month. Her husband, Chris, is currently balancing all household responsibilities solo as Amanda is hospitalized and has been in and out of the ICU. He is working full-time, caring for their toddler, and trying to be at the hospital to support Amanda as much as possible.
Please give if you can or share so we can help Amanda with the fight of her life! ❤️
