This goes out to our family and friends, near and far.

Last year at this time I was already thinking about what kind of party I’d be secretly planning for my beloved’s milestone 75th birthday.

In my worst nightmare, I could never have imagined I’d be writing this instead.

James has been diagnosed with (Stage 4) throat cancer. His radiotherapy treatments commenced this week and will continue 6 times a week for the next 6 weeks.

So far he is feeling ok, and we will continue doing everything we can to keep him well nourished, supported and positive about his future.

We are very grateful that the healthcare system here provides this free of charge.

It has its limitations though.

Given James’s innate desire to know everything he can about things that impact his life, he has started reading, watching and learning everything he can regarding integrative oncology care.

That has led him to a couple of well known and respected groups right here in Melbourne.

He has his first zoom call scheduled today.

We are still gathering information about costs but, to give you an idea, his phone consultation is $700.

It is a progressive approach to preventative care (regarding side effects of the radiotherapy) and also building up his immune system through specific foods and natural therapies- all which resonate with us and validate the choices James has made.

We know that many loved ones and friends have reached out, and feel the desire to want to help.

Any donation will put us one step closer to the care James truly believes can kick this cancer out of his life forever.
