Myers Family House Fire

The Myers' family had every persons worst nightmare happen on Friday, September 25. Their house caught fire. On Friday, Shirley went to start one of their cars and when she started it, the car exploded.  The car caught fire, quickly spread to the car port, and unfortunately to the house. Not only did the fire damage the house, but the ceiling is falling due to water damage from the firefighters putting the fire out. At this moment, they do not know what items can or cannot be saved. We do know the downstairs will have to be completely gutted and redone for sure. There isn't an estimate on how long it will take for house to be repaired but we do know they will not be in their home for the holidays. 

Unfortunately where the house caught fire was outside Shirley & Carroll's bedroom. Shirley only has the clothes that were on her body and Carroll has a few work clothes. They will need so much just to start rebuilding their basic needs.

Shirley said it best in her own words. "I thank God that throughout this horrible situation nobody was hurt. None of the firefighters were hurt battling this fire, no police were injured, and I was able to get out safely from the car. Everything else is materialistic. It can be replaced. God was looking out for us." 

We want to thank all the fire personnel and police who came to the scene. We thank each and every person who has reached out to us and all their kind words that we have received. We especially want to thank Officer T. Melvin who prayed with Shirley and provided comfort during this time as Shirley watched her home burn. Our family can't thank him enough for his kindness and compassion.
