A Van For Brody
Donation protected
Brody Lenz was born January 17th, 2014 happy and healthy. He survived a SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) event on June 21st, 2013. Less then 2% survive; he's truly a miracle. Brody's daily survival presents a variety of challenges. Brody now has a severe brain injury which has caused extremely high tone in his body. His lower extremities are very tight and rigid and he often has multiple spasms. He has little to no purposeful movement and has a feeding tube along with several medications on a daily basis to; control seizures, relax his muscles, help his respiratory system, and control pain in his precious little body. The brain injury has left him with cerebral palsy, along with multiple medical issues. Brody requires 16 hours a day of nursing coverage to help with all of his medical needs. Brody is wheelchair bound; the custom wheelchair they made however has special accessories to help position Brody comfortably and they do not fit into the trunk. The goal is to get a convertible van so he can just roll right into the van, without taking him out of the chair, lifting into the carseat and back into his chair. He is 40 pounds already and he is starting to get heavy and difficult to lift. His nursing department requires a lift in the home at 50 lbs, so he just had the ramp/lift evaluation a month ago and soon will have that as well. Brody goes to out-patient therapy 2 days a week, church when he can, and many doctors appointments a month. He is very busy so the van will be extremely helpful and put to great use.
Any donation you are able to consider would be graciously appreciated by Brody's parents Ashley and Jake Lenz! A benefit is currently in the planning stages for early November. More details to follow!
