Lulu’s Eye Surgery
Hi everyone!
This is Lisa, Lulu’s cat mom.
As most of you know, Lulu is my 3 year old black cat and my entire world. I adopted her from Rescued Treasures when she was 3 months old. She had been born with a congenital cataract in her right eye. It did not cause any issues at first (we got multiple vet opinions), but over the last 6 months, it progressed into glaucoma causing blindness in that eye and 3 times the normal eye pressure. This causes daily pain that is the equivalent of a migraine headache. It crushed me to find out that she is in pain especially since she has been unwavering in her sweet, funny, and loving manner. Unfortunately, this damage is irreversible and left untreated, can cause further issues and pain. I found all this out when we saw an animal ophthalmologist on June 28th. After an exam and several tests, she told us surgery would be the best and likely only option at this point. Lulu is scheduled to have surgery on July 21st to remove her right eye and relieve her of the pain she is currently in.
The procedure and follow up care are costly and the entire amount has to be paid in full the morning of the surgery. Unfortunately, we no longer qualify for insurance as this is a pre-existing condition.
I was extremely hesitant to start this fundraiser. Leaning on others and asking for help are roles I am super uncomfortable in. I would much prefer to be the one doing the helping and supporting…but from the encouragement of many friends and family, especially my girl Britt who said she would literally make the page for me if I didn’t, I am going to lean into that discomfort and ask for your help.
So, any amount you could spare would be enormously appreciated by Lulu and I.
I will get you back someday!
Love and Purrs,
Lisa and Lulu
