On June 19th my brother Scott fell and hit his head while in Narragansett RI celebrating our parent's 50th Wedding anniversary.
On the way down his head caught the rail of the deck and snapped his head back. The injury caused a compression injury to Scott's spine at C2-C3. At that time he had little use of his body from the neck down. By the following morning with the swelling increasing he had no use of his body from the neck down.
On June 21st they (the fantastic Dr's at RI Hospital) operated on his neck to trim away the disc that was pressing on his spine and drain some fluid in the area.
Today Scott is at Fairlawn Rehabilitation in Worcester. He has VERY limited use of his legs and arms. He has no use of his hands yet. They tell us he should gain most everything back (hopefully) within the next 6 months.
Scott provides the primary income for his beautiful family - his wife Lacey, and his 3 children Heidi, Jack and Isabelle. The medical bills are already piling up despite having good health insurance. His home will need modifications when he does head home. This is weighing heavily on Scott and Lacey when they should have 100% of thier focus on his recovery.
Scott is working VERY hard to gain use of his body and every day he is able do something new, but he has a very long and frustrating road ahead of him. Anything you can do to help relieve the financial stress he and his family faces will be forever appreciated.
Please also keep Scott and his family in your prayers.
