hello, my names leanne and im yazmins friend, i am starting a go fund me for yazmin to try and raise enough money to get her to rehab so she is able to learn to walk again! She would never ask for help to get this money for rehab so im doing it for her!
yazmin is a proud 32 year old single mum to 3 beautiful girls aged 11, 9 and 2, she has always worked and strived to give her girls the best path in life she possibly can.
Yazmin works for the NHS as a mental health nurse and has worked her butt of to get there, juggling everyday life, school runs and mum life, she has previously worked in the hospital in various departments spreading her caring nature, love and terrible jokes.
Yazmin has always tried her best to help others even before helping herself.
5 months ago yazmins life took an unexpected and very quick change, she woke up one morning and things just weren't the same, cutting a VERY LONG story short, after various hospital admissions, doctors and hospital appointments in various departments on and off the island, tests and sleepless nights yazmin was eventually diagnosed with FND ( FUNCTIONAL NEUROLOGIC DISORDER ) for those who have never heard of this, this is a neurological condition caused by changes in how the brain networks work, this stops your normal pathways that your brain uses to move, feel, speak, walk and think and it disrupts them, this causes paralysis ( not being able to move parts of your body) seizures, tremors or jerks, problems with memory, communicating and normal daily function.
Yazmin is currently in a wheelchair due to the fact she cannot feel one of her legs, she is unable to walk and needs to re lean how to walk all together, Yazmin has been through physio but needs a much more intensive therapy to be successful in learning to walk again.
yazmin suffers "dorls vagal shut downs" this is where her whole body just shuts down, yazmin is left unable to speak, open her eyes, move or even talk... she is just left to be scared inside her body, she is able to hear what's happening around her but unable to tell us what she needs or is thinking or if she's scared, this can be fraustrating for yazmin as she cant do anything but try her hardest to stay calm not be scared and hope it passes as quick as it possibly can.
Yazmins last shut down i was personally present for, she was in the middle of a physio session and this took 3 and a half hours to come back round and be able to open her eyes, but it wasn't over there, she was extremely exhausted scared and embarrassed!
yazmin is an extremely proud, independent lady and feels degraded and like she is failing her girls, her family and herself! Yazmin is always apologising for needing help! and thanking everybody for doing things for her, she is usually the person doing things for other people so for her friends and family and thank you is not needed and certainly not an apology!
Yazmins family have been amazing all taking it in there stride, holding back there emotions and being strong for yazmin and her girls, but this holds a heavy weight on there heart to see there daughter, sister, aunty etc in such a vulnerable scared way, they wish nothing more to have there bubbly, confident yazmin back and for yazmin to be enjoying life again!
we need to get yazmin back to her bubbly, mobile, funny (laughs at her own terrible jokes, but we will say funny for now lol) self not only for her little girlies but for herself! i have attached pictures of yazmin before and during this diagnosis.
please donate anything even small it all adds up, lets give yazmin her life back and lets give them girls there happy mummy back!
