Starting a Yoga School!
Donation protected
Helloha!
I’ve got exciting news...
I’m gearing up to start my own Yoga School - one that will begin in my home and hopefully grow to a commercial space from there!
As many of you know, I’ve recently been fortunate enough to move to the island of Kauai - a place that makes my soul sing on so many levels!
When I arrived in January I was surprised that there was nowhere in my town - or really, on the island - where people could practice an awareness-based style of yoga. There's a PowerYoga Studio, a Bikram Studio and a Barre Studio but no studio that's offering the type of yoga that encourages people to slow down, feel their bodies, breathe fully and learn to rest deeply inside their experience.
Since that’s my JAM and I know first-hand how therapeutic this style of yoga is, I felt really inspired to start teaching. I quickly began looking for a space to teach out of and call my own - a space where I could offer classes in Awareness-Based Flow Yoga, Meditation, Yoga Nidra and Kundalini Yoga.
The only spaces available were bigger than I needed and far beyond my price range. But then last month I was presented with the opportunity to rent a stand-alone cottage on a property where the landlord is 100% on-board with me running a studio out of the house. We've had many conversation about it and discussed all the factors at play - the neighbors, the traffic, the parking, etc.
AND IT'S A GO! I move in July 1st.
Here's where YOU come in...
I am reaching out to ask for your financial support to help me bring this dream to life. Here’s how your contributions will be used:
$4,800 - Rent for the Studio for 3 months
$1,200 - Props & Studio Supplies
$875 - Advertising, Domain Purchase & Website Development
$230 - Insurance for 1 year
$195 - MindBody Software for 3 months (used for student sign-in)
$200 - Teacher Training Program Renewal
While there is some leeway in when (exactly) I need the donations, having them by July 15 would be ideal and make the move and the studio set-up much easier, quicker and less stressful.
Those of you who know me well know that yoga and meditation have been both my passion and my profession (and possibly my obsession...but who's splitting hairs?). I suppose it's a natural extension that sharing these practices feels like my life's calling.
I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to offer these practices and teachings here on Kauai. Your contribution will not only make it possible for me to start teaching on a larger scale but also for me to grow community - a community where people can learn to feel greater ease in their bodies, minds and hearts, which I believe results in greater feelings of affection, compassion and appreciation for one another. All good and much-needed things!
And so I thank you with all my heart for any amount you're willing to give and I promise to put every penny to very good use!
With Lots of Love,
Jess
