This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write.

In a matter of moments, our family’s world changed forever. My father—our protector, our provider, our steady voice—was taken from us after a sudden and devastating medical emergency. There was no time to prepare, no way to brace our hearts for the pain that followed.

My dad was more than a father. He was a grandfather who watched his grandchildren grow, a man who showed up without being asked, who gave rides, told corny jokes, cooked meals, and loved us in quiet, consistent ways. He was the kind of person who made life feel safer just by being present.

As we grieve this unimaginable loss, we are now facing the heavy financial burden that comes with medical expenses, funeral arrangements, and the unexpected costs that follow a tragedy like this. Asking for help does not come easily, but we are learning that sometimes love shows up through community.
