Yasu Kobayashi replace his stolen van
Donation protected
Update: Lightening struck again. A second van was stolen from Yasu. Thanks to insurance and all of you, he was able to buy a replacement cargo van. It was old and yellow again but he was thrilled. He used it to sell at the Portland Saturday Market for three weeks.
Then last Saturday, April 1, he left the van parked in a parking lot a few blocks from the Market while he was selling. Unfortunately, when he returned to pick it up at the end of the day, it was gone. Stolen. That's two vans stolen in just over a month. Unbelievable.
Fortunately, since he was selling at the Market, he had his set up and stock with him in his booth so he doesn't have to replace all of that again.
Unfortunately, the insurance company can't determine payment until the vehicle is recovered and can be evaluated. So he's waiting. I don't know what happens if they never find it or how long the process will take.
As you might imagine, three weeks of making and selling small colorful wooden tops, cars, yoyos and other toys didn't bring much cash flow so the loss of this second van has been devastating. He's humbly grateful for all of the help you've provided. People have also donated a new canopy, tables, weights, shelving and other items to get his booth ready for selling. He can't thank everyone enough for your kindness.
