Hello from Shane, Emma, Dougie (dog brother) and Iassy (pronounced Yassy) <3

Last weekend our little Yass was unfortunately hit by a car, and although he managed to drag himself home he was too injured to get through the cat flap. He is such a clever brave boy he meowed to tell us to go to him, and we immediately rushed to the out of hours vets.

He had 3+ fractures in his pelvis and one of his legs was subluxed at the hip.

He has now had surgery to repair this, and is recovering well at home.

He's been absolutely amazing through the whole experience. He is so resilient and full of love he gave the vets so many cuddles every time they checked on him, and they couldn't even check his heart as he was purring so loudly they couldn't hear the stethoscope! They all fell in love with him and are amazed at how calm and loving he was in hospital.

We have Iassy insured for £4000 of vet bills, but unfortunately the running total for his care following the car collision is £6513, leaving us with £1960 to pay out of pocket.

Any donation would make such a huge difference as we are in a very difficult financial situation, having fallen into unavoidable debt after Emma sustained serious injuries when a bus drove into her on her bike in 2023.

ABOUT IASSY:

Little Yass has been a miracle from the start! In December 2022 Emma's mum (Ukrainian) was travelling through Romania to bring family members to stay with her in England as asylum seekers. Driving through some fields they heard what sounded like a baby, so pulled over to search the undergrowth. There, they found a tiny 2-3 month-old Yass in a rubbish bag filled with manure.

His face and ears had been eaten away by mites and he was extremely underweight, having most likely been thrown out from a local farm as an unwanted kitten.

We collected Iass when he arrived in England (see picture below). Theoretically, we were only going to look after him for a few days until Emma's family arrived in the country. However, we of course fell in love with him immediately, and so did our spaniel Dougie who adores his little brother. Despite the terrible condition Yass was found in, he is amazingly brave, resilient, confident and loving. He recovered so well, and quickly became an irreplaceable part of our family, and we can't imagine how we lived without him!
