I am Yasmin Hassan and I am 17 years old. I was born in Uganda, where I have been a student at Beacon of Hope College since 2011. I live with my parents in Uganda.
My mother prepares samosas for sale in order to raise money for feeding, and my dad is a car mechanic. However, my dad does not contribute money to my upkeep. He spends his money his money on drugs and doesn't help us children at home with our education.
We are seven children in our family - two boys and five girls. Three of my sisters got married in their teens without completing their education. My sister and I are the only ones left still striving to complete our education.
When I completed my primary school education, I got sponsored for the last four years and by God's grace, I always performed well and qualified for advanced level (A Level), which is a 2 year program.
I have always dreamt of becoming an engineer in future, especially after having the opportunity to visit Microsft two years go. In order to do this, I have to complete my education. My dream is to someday be a successful engineer, and help people in my current situation get a better education.
I really love learning and my favorite subjects are Mathematics , Physics, English and Economics. I believe completing my education is the only way for me to make my life and that of my family's better.
My major aim now is to successfully complete advanced level, and I need $1500 to sponsor my 2 years there, so I can graduate and then head on to college (university).
Thank you for being part of this effort to make my dream come true!
