I, Yasaman Khodajoo, a former political prisoner, was arrested and imprisoned in 2009, 2016, and 2018, and subjected to psychological, physical, and sexual torture multiple times. Due to multiple prison sentences issued against me in several cases, I was forced to leave my country and seek asylum in Turkey. As a result of the torture I endured, my kidney tissues were damaged, the right side of my skull was fractured, my nose was broken, and I suffered a fracture in my left forearm, which required doctors to insert a metal plate for treatment. Every month, I am forced to spend a significant amount of money on treating my kidney condition due to the lack of insurance.
The psychological pressures from the torture have caused severe depression, for which I am undergoing treatment. I have a son who suffers from Type 1 diabetes and requires two types of insulin injections four times a day. My mother, who provided property as bail for my temporary release, was arrested after I fled the country. She was also sentenced to prison, and all her properties were confiscated. She was eventually forced to join me in Turkey.
My mother suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, and nerve-related issues, and the lack of insurance makes her treatment costs extremely high. My sister, who was transferring money to me, was also arrested, and all her bank accounts and workplace were seized. As a refugee, I am not allowed to work in this country.
Please, we ask for your help to save us from this situation in Turkey and assist with our livelihood and medical needs.
Mant thanks
Yasaman Khodajoo
