Earlier this week, Yarns Etc was hit with some very unfortunate luck: the shop flooded due to the high volume of rain from Hurricane Florence.
On Monday morning Mary got a call from her landlord telling her to come to Yarn’s Etc immediately. When Mary arrived at the store, it was already nearly a foot and a half under water. After a couple of hours, the water receded and we were able to get in and assess the damage.
Knowing that flooding was possible, Mary had already moved a lot of merchandise to higher ground, but unfortunately, the flood waters reached higher than she had anticipated: much merchandise was ruined.
We are starting this GoFundMe because we need your help to get the yarn shop back on its feet. We want to reach out to our community for help here.
Mary is one of the most wonderful women in the world and she never imagined this natural disaster would hit so close to home. We are asking for donations of any size. We are trying to make proper renovations and we hope to be open in a timely manner. With your support that will definitely be possible!
Below we have outlined how we are going to use the money we raise with our GoFundMe campaign
Resurface floor and paint Repairs to walls, paint and put in new baseboards. The cost of labor that we can’t do ourselves and cost of materials will probably exceed $5000. We have lost $5000 of inventory, so any extra funds will be used to replace inventory.
We will be closed for the next 2- 3 weeks so we will also lose at least $5,000 in lost revenue from sales and classes. Our rent and utilities still need to be covered.
Thank you so much for any support you can give us to keep Needle Arts alive for fiber enthusiasts.
