Yarnbombing of Columbia

Dear Friends, this is really difficult for me, but I need your help!
Yarnbombers of Columbia is a group of volunteers that work together since 2015 to create fun and colorful art installations in Columbia and West Columbia.
We work with local schools and organizations, teaching them how to crochet and providing them yarn, so the Yarnbombing can be truly a community project.
We create every year “The Giving Tree” where we hang hand made scarves, gloves and hats for anyone to take. Over the past 4 years we have given out over 1000 pieces.
In fall of 2019 we started working on our largest project yet, Winter Wonderland. The group will be covering 5 blocks of Main Street, from Tapps to SC State House, and it will be magical.
When we started this project, we were promised financial support by many Main Street businesses. And then the pandemic happened. Almost all companies cut off their charitable giving. By then two of our leaders had already invested their own money into the project, believing they would get it back.
By the time pandemic happened
, we were too far into the project to stop, plus we believe that in this hard year, it is really important to give our Columbia community something to bring us joy.
This brings me to the hard part. Please help us raise $5000 to cover cost of all the yarn and cleaning after the installation is taken down. Many of the pieces made for this project will be transformed into scarves and blankets for our Giving Tree.
